Heroic age of the Church and early persecution
The Heroic Age of the Church spans the first 300 years after Christ, marked by imprisonments, martyrdoms, and brutal persecutions. Key figures such as Peter, Paul, Ignatius, Polycarp, Justin Martyr, and others faced torture and death under Nero and later emperors. Diocletian and Galerius intensified persecutions before an 311 edict allowed Christian assemblies again, as believers endured and strengthened their faith.
