A new state moped licensing rule took effect July 1 requiring motorized bicycles bought on or after that date to display a DMV license plate by January 2, 1982.
United Way of Kern County and the Kern Unit of the American Cancer Society sign a partnership to unite fund raising in local industries, businesses and government offices. The agreement, announced by John Brock Jr and Dr Kenneth Wong, aims to boost support for United Way agencies and Cancer Society programs. The 1982 campaign targets 1,082,000 dollars.
The Kern County Co operative Coalition hosts a Saturday workshop on starting a food co op and stretching dollars. Held July 18 at 10 00 a m Beale Memorial Library Auditorium 1315 Truxtun Ave Bakersfield. For details call 832 9171 322 5556. The coalition is a nonprofit group supporting not for profit co operative enterprises in the southern San Joaquin Valley.
Barring adverse weather water or road conditions trout plants are planned for Kern County lakes and streams including the Kern River sections from Democrat Dam to KRI Powerhouse Borell Powerhouse to Democrat Dam Isabella Dam to Borell Powerhouse and KRI Powerhouse to Lake Isabella.
