School employee charged with sexual offenses faces Monday hearing

Harp, a Kern High School District employee with nine years at SHS, is scheduled for a July 19 hearing before Judge L Bryce Chase in Delano on counts of mere and sexual penetration with a victim under 18. KHSD placed him on admin leave with or without pay while the district reviews the serious allegations.

Man Arrested After Alleged Assault With Deadly Weapon

Encarnacion Barrientos, 20, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after a Saturday confrontation at 232 Rodriguez Ave in Shafter. A tire iron was used in the attack on a house resident who tried to intervene. Barrientos fled but was later captured and booked at Lerdo jail awaiting arraignment.
