Hollywood comes to Minter Field for film shoot
A French company Latitude Films shot a corporate film at Minter Field using a Spitfire with pilots in P-47 and P-51 to portray speed. Bruce Lockwood landed after a near miss as a camera plane fired a canister into the air. Crew, many LA-based, endured heat over 100 degrees while filming for a Renault project and Warbirds in Action showcase.

SHS worker charged in alleged sex with minor case
Ronald Roy Harp, a 43 year old longtime Shafter High School employee, was arrested Friday on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 17 year old girl. He posted bail at 20 thousand dollars and was placed on unpaid administrative leave. The case moved from Shafter to Delano McFarland NCMC after judge disqualified himself. Arraignment pending.

ENABL program educates teens on delaying sexual involvement
Educators from Buttonwillow Health Center will teach 12 to 14 year olds in summer school at Primary School about risks of early sex, peer pressure, and assertiveness. Sessions run July 20 to August 3, with a July 14 parents presentation, as part of Gov. Wilson’s Teen Pregnancy Initiatives.
