Water Woes Hit North Shafter Residents Over Water System
In the North Shafter area around Prince Lane residents complain of water supply delays and inconvenient meeting notices. Munoz says she draws water from relatives on Carter Street while some rely on the police. City officials claim bids will be sought July 29 to fix the system, with months of construction anticipated. The Sellars Water Company owns Prince Lane and services Smith’s Corner and North Shafter, a region of about 127 families north of Tulare Avenue and west of Highway 43.

Baseball tournament in Shafter features many California teams

Hunters Found Dead in Idaho Fire Funeral Pending
Lillette Kliewer recalled a tragedy after a fire at the hunting lodge owned by Jim Thrash and his wife in Idaho. The couple, married in Bakersfield on May 19 1973, had planned to visit their daughter before Thrash’s funeral could be scheduled, while the Outfitters Association president was among those affected.
