Mr and Mrs William McCullough of 403 Elm Street Shafter were severely injured when a Kern County Equipment Co trailer broke loose and struck their northbound car on Central Valley Highway about one mile south of Wasco at 855 am. Isaac Johns 39 drove the truck and trailer. investigators cite a likely bolt failure in the trailer mounting. Mrs McCullough was en route to Maple Leaf Enterprises in Wasco.
The Shafter City Council will act as a board of equalization on Monday July 13 at 7 30 p m in City Hall with three consecutive sessions July 13 14 and 15 for property assessment complaints Owners may appear before Clerk Johnston to contest current tax assessments The new fiscal year budget will be set during the three day session.
A group of 34 Mexican farm leaders and their wives will tour California’s agricultural areas as guests of the California Bureau Federation. They will visit Bakersfield on July 9 for a one day stay and then continue to other sites.
