A birthday party for eight year old Carol KinCannon, daughter of Mr and Mrs Melton KinCannon of 648 East Ash, was hosted by Mrs KinCannon on Wednesday June 30. The Business and Professional Women's Club held a potluck at Leona Vannatta's home on Thursday July 1. A handkerchief shower celebrated Jeanette Wheeler who will teach in Germany next year. Co host Lorene Hill and guests included Miss Elsa Kreuger from Germany who spoke with questions answered. The group enjoyed homemade ice cream, and the next meeting was announced for August at Alberta Prendergast's.
Elizabeth Ann Haworth born July 6 at Freise's Maternity Hospital weighing 7 lb 55 oz. Douglas Vaughn born July 1 at Mercy Hospital weighing 7 lb 1 oz to Ray Fowler. John Richie born July 2 at Kern General Hospital weighing 9 lb 10 oz, joining sister Linda Jo. Families listed with addresses and naval father on 7 day leave.
129 Stone hosted family and friends with visitors from Monroe Oregon Long Beach Delano Santa Cruz Lerdo Road and Pismo Beach. Mr Wedell and Mrs Penner are cousins. Gilman family and Maudie Crabb also joined the holiday observances and trips to Santa Maria.
Last weekend Roy Al lens of Euclid and Ben Grundys of Stone Street traveled to Sequoia with their usual Kings Canyon trip. The Siemenses return from a three week British Columbia tour including a golden wedding anniversary in Chilliwack. Mrs. Henri D Estout and her son Mark visit from San Diego, while Mrs. Peters recovers from major surgery in hospital.
Lou Buller of Moffett Field visited over the holiday weekend. Sunday dinner guests included Mrs. Ray Cress and son Ray Dean of Martinez. A July Fourth note recalls Mr. J W Lassiter’s family as they catch up during a long reunion, with remarks on a 33 year span since last meeting. Lisle Laughlin resumed work at Bank of America Wasco after navy service aboard USS Leo. Sharon Grundy, returning from Porterville, attends First Baptist Church conference at Forest Home in the San Bernardino Mountains. Mr and Mrs Thomas Wedge Ruth Voth and G G Gillette attended a Vitaphone film in Bakersfield in October 1928.
