The City Council will meet Tuesday night to discuss the 1963 64 budget with estimates close to final figures. Projected revenue includes property taxes 65 800.00 penalties and costs 450.00 sales tax 65 000.00 franchises 7 000.00 and business licenses 14 000.00.
Kevin Nephew announced acceptance of the post as assistant superintendent educational services for the Cypress District near Anaheim. The document lists city revenues and spending items totaling 250 900 dollars for 1963 64 including permits fines licenses and services.
Tax rate notes discuss adding 1000 pupils and allocating funds for city services. The 1963 64 budget lists items from city clerk to capital outlay totaling about 240 794 dollars with additions for a police desk and voice writer. Sacramento plans about 1.5 million dollars in third quarter advertising for four State Water Project works. The largest 900 thousand dollar contract includes five miles of welded steel pipeline, filtration wells, and road relocations. An August ad date covers South Bay Aqueduct work in two contracts with September ads for pumps and pump house. A separate August ad covers Oroville Dam overlook improvements including a visitor building and sanitation and landscaping.
A weather note compares June 1963 conditions with the 41 year mean. It reports nightly lows near 49 to 51 degrees and a mean daily high around 87.6 degrees, below the long term average of 92.6, indicating a cooler than typical June.

The Kern County area district adopts tentative 1963-64 budgets totaling 14.18 million dollars and forecasts a three cent reduction in the current tax rate. Enrollment is seen rising by about 1,000 students with growth in high schools and the junior college.
Kern County supervisors' water committee chair Vance Webb will host the Water Association of Kern County annual meeting on July 19 with an address by Joseph Jensen, chairman of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. The event at Bakersfield Hacienda starts at 6 30 p m with public reservations through the association office.
The Richland School District board sets a tentative budget of 921 800, announced by Superintendent Bruce Crawford. The prior year’s budget was 988 734, a drop of 67 934. Oil royalty declines prompted larger cuts, with twelve positions eliminated to balance the budget.
