Summer programs kick off at Shafter Recreation District
The Shafter Recreation and Parks District started summer offerings at the Shafter Aquatic Center with daily public hours and swim lessons beginning June 23. Tehachapi hosts Men’s C and D Fastpitch Tourney
Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District runs a double elimination Men’s C and D Fastpitch Softball Tournament at Tehachapi West Park, July 25 to 27. Entry is 150 dollars per team, includes softballs, umpires, scorekeepers, field maintenance and awards.

Shafter Track Club at Pleasant Hill state meet
The Shafter Track Club traveled to Pleasant Hill on June 21 22 for a state level meet winning several medals. Chris Ruiz placed third in triple jump and fourth in long jump while Jason Keillor finished fourth in discus. Manuel Velasquez was fourth in the 5000 meter race and Darin Rice took fourth in pole vault. The relay teams placed sixth in 4x800 and eighth in 4x400. Additional competitors included David Lopez Frank Marroquin and Garza Ruiz in sprints and relays.
