A June 25 Kern County follow up at Greenacres Community Center closed four workshop sessions on groundwater protection planning drinking water standards public awareness and involvement and agricultural industrial impact. The Groundwater Quality Committee chaired by Les Clark outlined plans for alternative water supplies groundwater recharge control and public education.

Irene Stockton retires after 28 years at Shafter district
Irene Stockton ends a long teaching career spanning 28 years at Richland and primary schools after moving to Shafter in 1954 with her husband. She was honored with a June breakfast and a surprise dinner, plans relaxed retirement, church involvement, and future travels to Canada and New England in 1986.
