Robbery in alley nets 100 dollars from Shafter man
A 75-year-old Shafter man, Joe Rodriguez, was robbed Sunday in the alley behind his home at 209 Pacific. Two boys about 16 accosted him, took his wallet containing five twenty dollar bills, dropped the wallet, and fled. One suspect wore a blue striped shirt. Rodriguez said he kept the money on him to avoid leaving it at home.

Burglaries Reported Across Shafter Area Last Week
Shafter police investigated multiple burglaries over the past week with five businesses and two residences entered. The Casa Cortez restaurant and the Shafter Press building were hit on Monday night but no items were reported stolen from either. the newspaper office was accessed via a roof vent. Between 300 and 400 dollars in change and petty cash were stolen from S and H Foodliner and Kern Loan. A TV was reported stolen from Richard Arias’s residence on West Lerdo Highway and drugs and jewelry were taken from Barbara Sue Mitchell’s home. No arrests have been made.
