Travel rules tighten for land and sea to Mexico Canada
Auto Club Bakersfield warns starting Jan 31 travelers by land or sea to Mexico Canada Bermuda and the Caribbean must carry a government issued photo ID and proof of U S citizenship. Passports not yet mandatory for these routes but a passport card may replace a full passport in 2009. Families advised to obtain or renew passports via the Bakersfield office and plan for Mexico auto insurance if driving there.
