Fraudulent Lottery Check Reported In Shafter
Connie Rumsey found a fraudulent lottery prize letter and a $1 980.98 check mailed to her elderly mother in Shafter on January 17. Bank of America and Ontario Lottery and Gaming were cited, but the check lacked a proper address and showed misspellings. Police say identity theft cases are common, requiring proof of financial loss for prosecution.
