Shafter honors Sgt Dave Edmiston Citizen of the Year
Sgt Dave Edmiston received the Citizen of the Year Award at the 50th Annual Shafter Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture banquet at the Shafter Veteran's Hall. Colbert praised his community policing, D.A.R.E. work, and PAL program guiding at risk youth toward teams over gangs.

District adopts dress code for Richland pupils
RLSD will require a district wide dress code starting 1996 97 with principals empowered to discipline noncompliant students. The plan includes a volunteer school uniform policy and community meetings to tailor uniforms at each school. Completion of Phase II of the activity center funded by KCCBDP grants is expected by May 1996 with RLSD fundraising donations enhancing facilities.
