State ends state takeover of Kern CPS program
The California Department of Social Services will not file a Welfare and Institutions Code 10605 action against Kern County Child Protective Services after completing its review. CDSS Acting Chief Deputy Lawrence B. Bolton stated the department will instead aid Kern County in implementing a new statewide Child Welfare Service system and continue licensing division collaboration. Kern officials welcomed the decision, noting safety for children and families remains a priority.
