Two Men Injured in Bakersfield Truck Crash
Two men were badly injured when a 1941 Chevrolet pickup collided broadside with a Clemens Brothers welding truck at Merced and Wasco Avenues. John E. Turner and Sylvester Sutter, both of Bakersfield, suffered major injuries. Lyle Buckley, driver of the welding truck, escaped serious harm. Sutter was taken to Kern General Receiving Hospital after initial care. Addresses provided for Buckley and Turner. Sutter’s address unavailable.

Eugene E. Brock of Shafter was killed in action near Luzon in the Philippine theater. His body will be returned to the United States and buried in Shafter Cemetery with services conducted by Reverend B. E. Andrews. the date of arrival in San Francisco and the funeral details will be posted by the family and Shafter Funeral Home. Brock, 19, enlisted in 1943 after graduating Shafter High School. He was survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brock and siblings Jessie, Carl, Vancel, and Mildred.
