Cork trees at old Hoover Ranch mark forgotten homeplace

The State Forestry Service planted large cork saplings on the ranch grounds decades ago and never checked them, leaving huge virgin cork trees. Nellie Camp and Mrs West epitomized era outfits, the original homeplace vanished save four corner trees, and a fireplace from the Hoover Ranch was relocated to a park by Nikkel Equipment. Martin Auctioneers will host an Open House Friday, last chance to visit the ranch, with gratitude from the reporter for help from Paul, Bobby, and Mike Ratzlaff.
