Tragic Highway 46 crash claims Sheila Gates in Watsonville area
Family seeks help locating two dogs after Christmas night crash on Highway 46 near Holloway Road. Phillip Gates and Xiuying Cui were injured, Sheila Gates died, others treated at Kern Medical Center. Dogs Tessy the Corgi and Gracie the Chihuahua went missing after the wreck.

Fourth accident at downtown intersection shocks locals
The Shafter Press reports a fourth crash in two months at Central Valley Highway and Central Ave. A gold sedan with front-end damage and a white produce company pickup blocked the intersection as oranges lay scattered. Bakersfield couple in the sedan said they had a green light and collided with the pickup bed. Police directed traffic. ambulance checked a sedan occupant. A prior crash two weeks earlier involved a car and pickup with minor injuries.

Winter camp students visit Minter Field Air Museum
Children from Camp Gan Israel Bakersfield toured the Minter Field Air Museum and sat in antique planes. They viewed World War I through modern memorabilia, learned about wars, and also visited CALM during the week. The museum hosts tours for schools year round with new displays.
