Local woman marks 915th birthday in Wasco tale
Norma Collins of Wasco, born in Weed, Colorado in 1920, recalls a life spanning gas at 30 cents a gallon and meals for ten cents. Aged 91, she reflects on moving across the country during gas rations, to base life with her husband a financier, and 12 days of travel from South Carolina to Marysville in the 1940s. She shuns computers and cell phones, valuing personal communication over modern tech. She calls herself an odd bird and cherishes her long life and gardening son Ron.
