Dr Juliet Thorner of Bakersfield will be guest speaker at the Richland PTA monthly meeting on January 10 at 7 30 p m in the Richland cafeteria. The program titled Responsibilities of the Home and Family will have her discuss children's attitudes today and contrast them with those forty years ago, explaining pressures and the shift in expectations among older children.

Angel Vasquez Dies In Car Crash Near Shafter
Angel Vasquez 33 of Regriatez Shafter died Monday at 5 p.m. when his car crossed the center line and hit a dump truck on Falm near Kimberlina. Passenger Gilbert Gameboa 24 was hospitalized with moderate injuries. Hurley Elsberry 51 Wasco was unhurt. Vasquez, a Shafter High alumnus, served 1953 55 and is survived by his mother Maria, wife Clementine and two sons Mark and Gregory.

Boy Scouts Acquire 160 Acres for New Camping Sites
The Southern Sierra Council of the Boy Scouts of America has bought 160 acres in the Piute range between Weldon Caliente and Jawbone Canyon for camping sites. Dr George Paulse, camping committee chair, notes the land addition.
