Bakersfield College Liberal Arts drama department announces New Starlight of Kern reviving two summer musicals in 1975 at the Bakersfield College Outdoor Theatre. First show June 20 will be A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum. No, No, Nanette follows in July. Casting tests occur March 31 with courses in musical theatre and dance offered in spring.

ERA ratification forecast boosts push for equality
The California Commission on Women forecasts final passage of the Equal Rights Amendment before June 1975. Congress approved the ERA in 1972 and 38 states must ratify. 33 have done so, with 17 states to meet in January. Four states are seen as likely to ratify soon, while several others could decide the outcome. Hap Cary Named Tax Compliance Supervisor by Board
George R. Reilly announced the appointment of Hap Cary son of the Chief Tax Compliance Supervisor to the statewide position effective December 1974. Cary, a former Marine, will implement the Board’s tax compliance program under Leslie Clarke. He has served in multiple offices including Sacramento and Pasadena and replaces Arthur Gould who retires December 30, 1974 after 28 years of state service.
