New wilt resistant cotton strain eyed for San Joaquin Valley
The Continuous Cotton Variety Testing Committee in Fresno recommends releasing Experimental Acala T-4852 to combat severe verticillium wilt. If approved, seed could support limited commercial planting in 1975 and aid ongoing seed expansion. T-4852 yields exceed Acala SJ-3 by about 40 to 50 pounds per acre in wilt infested areas.
