Juveniles Arrested After High Speed Chase on 99
Three 17 year olds from Bakersfield were taken into custody after a southbound chase on Highway 99 ending in the Lerdo area. Shafter Police, alerted by CHP on February 21, pursued the stolen car north on Santa Fe Way and east on Lerdo Highway before the setback on the southbound 99. Officers charged the youths with grand theft auto, hit and run, possession of stolen property, felony avoiding arrest, and possession of an illegal weapon a billy club found in the vehicle. They were transported to juvenile hall.
