Meeting on disposal facility cleanup in Shafter area
A community meeting is set for March 1 to discuss the Remedial Action Plan for a waste disposal facility near Beech Avenue and 7th Standard Road, five miles south of Shafter. DTSC supervised removal from 1953 to 1985 with most waste cleaned by 1992, and groundwater shows no contamination from past operations. Public comments on the RAP and Negative Declaration are due by March 25, 1994, with documents available at the Shafter Kern County Library.
