Lions Harness Races Fund Sight Charities In Shafter
The Shafter Lions Club hosts annual matinee harness races and barbecue to raise funds for sight conservation and other charities. The event begins at 2 p.m. this Sunday with gates open at noon and a $10 donation. if weather cancels, March 2 is the alternate date. Shafter police made 11 arrests Saturday night for alcohol or traffic related offenses. Gary McGowan, 26, was jailed on public intoxication and an outstanding Kern County warrant, with drugs found during a custodial search.
