The Shafter Police submit a yearly report by Police Chief Hanley Witcher detailing driving to cover over 7.5 times the world, consuming 8135.4 gallons of gas at about 9 mpg. The department handled 1701 adults with 127 felonies reported, 20 charged, 38 pending, and no homicides or narcotics arrests. Juveniles reached 253 with 256 boys and 18 girls, 32 detained, 245 referred to juvenile court, reserve officers logged 493 hours, 1064 assists, eight fires attended, 1497 house checks, 171 public service acts, 53 accidents, and 217 warrants cleared.
