Home-Sports Show Set at Kern County Fairgrounds
The five day Home and Sports Show will run May 5 to 9 at the new Kern County Fairgrounds. Manager C W McCafferty says a portable ice rink will be set up for nightly skating by top pros, with a Saturday Sunday matinee and packed seats for daily performances during Show Week in Bakersfield. Two features include Stars Over Ice and home lovers exhibits drawing big crowds. Capt George Vancouver noted for first white sighting of Mount Rainier in 1792 and Russian Hill named for a Russian cemetery at its base.
