High School Career Day Set At Shafter High
Shafter High School will host Senior Career Day on Thursday with Wendell Kinney as keynote speaker. Kinney runs an insurance agency and often serves as a consultant at Kern County Career Days. Karl Thomas of Bioform Corporation will speak at the luncheon on employer requirements for employment and advancement. Shafter’s 190 seniors chose 21 vocational areas and will be guided by Kern County leaders who have succeeded in their fields. Each senior may attend four group meetings.

Eugene Nichols, longtime mover since 1923, after retirement from touring and storage work in California, opens California Moving and Storage at 529 Central Avenue Shafter. He previously built Associated Van Line in Los Angeles after moving from Chicago to California in 1949. Nichols chose Shafter because his wife Peggy, sister of the Ogle brothers, calls it home, where she once managed an LA moving firm.
