The Girls League of Shafter high School plans a rummage sale supervised by the league Saturday February 19 at the Shafter Grocery Store. Clothes are mended by sewing class students with a prize for the girl bringing the most rummage. Committee heads include Leola Kirschenmann Lily Hein Nina Peters and Mary Virginia Edwards. Proceeds fund the league’s annual picture student fund and social activities.
In the rush of oil workers to the Shafter field two new test funds for drill were referred to Kern county council of the American Legion. The money would be used to send Junior American Legion Auxiliaries. Moving pictures of Japan were shown to Miss Woodburn's History I classes Thursday. These pictures proved interesting to students featuring volcanos in Japan the Torii gate and Japanese arts.
