Community Service Award honors Angel Jimenez of Shafter
Angel Jimenez received the Community Service Award at the Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet for long time community service in Shafter. He volunteers at parades and events, lends equipment, and helps fund youth programs with St Therese Church. Each year his crew travels to San Luis Rio Colorado to deliver school supplies to children and families, including notebooks, pencils, backpacks, shoes, toiletries, and kindness to a Mexican village.

Congressman David Valadao announced four California students nominated to US service academies. Bronze Star Navy Corpsman Dana Mulder Honored
Dana Mulder a Navy Corpsman known as Zeke earned the Bronze Star for a daring nighttime rescue at Yontan Airfield. He later entered Tokyo as one of the first combat servicemen after the war. A longtime Shafter Kiwanis member and church elder, his 20 years on the Minter Field Airport District Board and belief in health align with his community service.
