Seven more breakins in the past week pushed the community total to 20 in two weeks. Six cases occurred near the city. the Coberly-West Gine offices at Five Points were hit. Cash losses included small amounts from French's market Kelley’s market McCormac's grocery Jay's market and other local spots. The Star club saw about 50 in change from various machines. Police note a different method than earlier burglaries.

Secretary Manager Robert Diltz of the Shafter-Wasco Irrigation District announces 1958 season water orders for March 1, 1958 to February 28, 1959. Orders due by February 25, 1958 to allow processing and Bureau of Reclamation submission. A $4.50 per irrigated acre water deposit is required, refundable upon request when no further service is desired.
The upcoming Shafter city elections show only incumbents filed for two council seats city clerk and city treasurer positions with a February 13 deadline. Mayor Adolf Kirschenmann declined to run leaving a small slate. Elections set for April 8 with four-year terms.
