Editorial tribute and Kern water proposal on Lincoln anniversary
The Shafter Press editorial honors Abraham Lincoln and urges dedication to his ideals. It endorses forming a Kern County Water Agency to secure irrigation water, citing Riddell of the Kern County Chamber of Commerce and noting how agencies can contract with districts and the Bureau of Reclamation without erasing district rights. The piece links national reverence for Lincoln to local need for a reliable water supply.
