Eighteen girls compete for Shafter Junior Miss title
Eighteen Shafter High School candidates begin a two month program under Kay Milwee and Sharon Biloff. The event seeks to honor scholastic achievement over beauty, with strict supervision, regular practice, and parent involvement. Gail Monk and last year’s winner encourage participants to value education, friendship, and personal growth as they prepare for show time. First practice set for February 17.
