Councilmen Asked to Attend Meet Wi Drive Against Low-Rent Units
Local property owners led by Eyron Hanson pressure Shafter officials to withdraw a federal public housing contract for Terra Vis in the Wasco area. The group cites police, fire, and tax concerns while opponents warn the project risks a socialist outcome and government wards. Cotton Dominates Kern County Outlook for 1952
The Kern County agricultural outlook favors cotton for 1952 with higher production than 1951, while potato planting faces seed shortages and price ceilings. Rain boosted underground water and early signals suggest a strong cotton harvest barring further weather disruptions. Growers protest the California potato price ceiling and seek policy fixes as seed shortages and lease constraints strain spud plans.
