Shafter parent earns statewide Volunteer Award honor
A Shafter resident, Deanna Rodriguez-Root, was named one of 12 California winners of the Parent Volunteer Award at the Sixteenth Annual California Association of Bilingual Education conference in Anaheim. The Richland-Lerdo School District supported her attendance as about 7,500 attendees heard that parent participation is vital to children's education. Rodriguez-Root plans to report on the conference and may help form a volunteerism focused parent committee.
