Elk Hills Oil Levy To Go Up In Kern County
Kern County Assessor Herbert E. Roberts reports a re evaluation of Standard Oil’s stake in the Elk Hills Naval Reserve No. 1 may lift its fair market value by 700 to 900 million dollars by March 1. The rise would add about 20 million in 1974-75 taxes, with total countywide oil valuation increasing over 1.6 billion and boosting tax revenue near 40 million. The Navy’s entitlement allows continued oil production to cover costs and tax gains.
