Shafter Gins 35 500 Bales Cotton in Record Year
The five Shafter gins report a record season with 35 500 bales ginned to date. Shafter Wasco Ginning Co led with 9 650 bales followed by Coberly West Co 8 600 and L A Camp 8 550 along with Smith Garrison gins totaling 8 700. A warm dry fall extended picking, enabling nearly every bale to open and be picked while gins ran on a 24 hour schedule. The total bales are a fraction of the overall area output on more than 20 000 acres planted.

Juvenile Cases Keep Police Busy Over Week-end
Local police kept busy with several juvenile incidents over the weekend. An 18 year old boy and a 15 year old girl took a weekend trip to Modesto. the girl was picked up and the boy placed in custody for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. A 13 year old Shafter youth drove a car after a movie. he was detained and referred to county juvenile court. Wasco teens faced drinking charges and a Philippine man was arrested for drunkenness and vagrancy.
