Shafter Year in Review Highlights City Growth and Awards
Shafter capped a busy year with street sign upgrades and a push to annex property north of 7th Street. Officers Robert Courtney and Dianna Burnett earned city awards for completing an extensive domestic violence course at the Institute of Criminal Investigation. SHS saw 250 seniors graduate, while Manuel Garcia was named head football coach for 2004. The Post Office began passport services in the lobby and several civic events and projects, including a new 31 home Tulare Avenue subdivision and a 12,500 square foot church expansion, were announced.
