Shafter Begins Centen nial with Birthday Bash at High School
Shafter marks its 100th year with a Centennial Birthday Party on Thursday January 10 at Shafter High School Cafeteria starting 5:00 p.m. The event features hot dogs cake and refreshments. The Shafter High School Band and Richland Junior High Jazz Band perform. A slide show and history presentation honors the city. A Centennial Baby Contest winner will be announced. The year will feature community events culminating in a October Centennial Festival. The city invites residents to follow Shafter Press for updates.

RHJ Club brings Christmas cheer to seniors
Richland Junior High Builders Club part of Shafter Kiwanis held its third annual Christmas caroling event at Carrington Senior Living Center. Under advisor Martha Alvarado students raised funds via a car wash to buy toiletries and donated blankets socks and soap. They toured Carrington on December 14 singing and greeting residents, expressing heartfelt moments and a desire to return. The group also organized a pumpkin carving contest Harvest Parade and helped assemble food baskets, aligning with Kiwanis service goals to aid the community.
