The Shafter Press will be closed Tuesday January 1 2002 for New Year’s Day with display ad deadlines set for December 26 at noon, December 27 at 4 p.m., and December 28 at 10 a.m. Classified reader ads follow the same timeline. New Child Seat Law Extends Booster Rules
The state ahs new child safety seat rules effective January 1 2002 requiring older children to ride in booster seats until six years old or 60 pounds. Previously only up to four years or 40 pounds required booster use. Governor Gray Davis praised the bill citing added protection and lives saved.
