Two arrested for forged prescriptions in Shafter
Selma residents Kerry Thornhill and Debra Ann Thornhill were arrested after a forged prescription attempt at Shafter Drug Store. Kerry held on 7000 bail for possession and forging a prescription. Debra faced multiple drug, weapon, and license charges with 12500 bail. A getaway pursuit ended with a gas-station stop and seizure of a stolen .25 caliber pistol.

Fatal single car crash claims Shafter man
A 19 year old Shafter man Juan Flores of 380 East Ash was found dead at 7:30 a.m. Monday after a likely 2 a.m. crash on Fresno Avenue. The car reportedly veered right, overcorrected, and struck a water pump on the left shoulder. The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Nearby, the state Farm Bureau, founded in 1919, serves 92 000 member families and advocates on agriculture, trade, water, and rural issues.

Planning commission backs 8 pm to 8 am truck ban

Car stripped burned in Shafter and Bakersfield incidents
Kern County Fire Department investigated a stolen 1979 Luv pickup set ablaze after its engine, cab and tires were damaged. The truck, owned by Doug Eyrand of Bakersfield, was reported stolen from Bakersfield and traced to near West Tulare Avenue. Shafter police reported the incident on December 24.
