The St. Marys Altar Society Friday night event in Buttonwillow was called a huge success. George Pecchia of Bakersfield won the grand prize, a handmade bedspread from Italy, with coffee and cake served for refreshments at the close of the evening.

Buttonwillow School Hosts Annual Christmas Party Program
Buttonwillow Union School alumni and families gathered for the annual Christmas party last Thursday. The program featured A Child's Dream on Christmas Eve with student roles and rooms depicting toyland sleigh bells trains and bells. The second act highlighted angel Imogene Yarbrough and carols while upper grades staged Christmas in Many Lands with scenes from Scandinavia Holland Germany England and a church setting. An electric organ donated by Mrs. Herman Dargatz supported the performance.

Auxiliary Holds Meet Hears of Aid
Buttonwillow Unit 674 of the American Legion Auxiliary held its regular meeting December 5 with President Ruth White presiding. A $25 contribution was approved for department Daddy Gifts. Minnie Ealum announced two more books added to the Kern County Library and urged reading Seeds of Treason and The Red Masquerade.
