Dean Potter Pioneer of Shafter Dies at 73
Dean Potter 73 prominent Shafter pioneer died of natural causes early Tuesday in a Bakersfield hospital after 32 years in the city. He arrived in 1915 after engineering with two railroads, owned 80 acres on Shafter's north border and helped build schools. Survived by wife Julia and four sons. Aid in Big Relief Program With Canned Meat
The Mennonite Brethren Church of Shafter reports major relief work for the National foreign relief program. Volunteers sent canned meat and other supplies processed at the Delano cannery and through the Central Committee in Akron Pa. They forwarded 2300 dollars since last October and purchased 22 steers canned for shipment. A sewing circle produced 38 comforters for the mission.
