Members met December 11 at the City Council Chambers to discuss renewals and society needs. Forty percent have not renewed. Richland district approves in service days and bids
The Richland School District Board met to approve January 15 and 16 as in service days for primary teachers with no school for primary students. It named Vicki Daughrity Sally Gonzales Mary Lou Hernandez and Barbara Gallaher to work with Intermediate teachers and reinstated Leo Schmidt as Senior Mechanic effective December 1. The board seeks a learning disability group teacher after winter recess as district vacancies are hard to fill. Enrollment stood at 1620, cafeteria profits rose, and surplus property was approved for sale. Proficiency standards remain tabled for January action.

Shafter Police Reports Multiple Suspects in Local Crimes
At 1:52 a.m. officers found David Peralta Olvera inside Shafter Sports and Liquor and arrested him for public drunkenness and a Bakersfield warrant. On December 10, Timmothy Lee Miller, 21, was jailed on a Shafter robbery warrant from December 2, 1980, with $15,000 bail. Other arrests included Jose Bravo on an outstanding warrant and DUI, Merced Longoria on a warrant, and an armed robbery suspect in custody after a Mynsk Shell Service heist. Deputies recovered $519 in cash from the Shafter investigation, and a burglary case at Gro Chemical Company yielded $480 in stolen chemicals. A burglary at Ramon Bustos’s residence in Delano was reported, with items including firearms stolen.
