Grand Jury Reports On Kern County Sheriff's Headquarters
The 2004 2005 Kern County Grand Jury Law and Justice Committee inspected the Sheriff's Department Headquarters at 1350 Norns Road near Meadows Field. The 18 acre complex includes Buildings A and B plus a training academy, gym, auditorium, and on site aircraft hangar with four helicopters and two fixed wing planes used for surveillance and rescue. A mobile forensic unit and bomb squad unit with a robot support major crime work and frequent bomb diffusions. The facility appears well organized and maintained and public access should feature a posted copy of the report.

Shining Stars Bring Holiday Music to Local Schools
Kern County Sheriff's deputies Daren Ellison Steve Chisum Moe Adame and Anthony Leyva formed a musical group called the Shining Stars to perform for school children in the Buttonwillow Substation area. Ellison Chisum and Adame play guitars Leyva drums and all four sing. Last week they performed a holiday program for Maple Buttonwillow Lost Hills Semi Tropic and McFarland Schools.
