Two Drug Arrests in Buttonwillow Within Hours
Deputies stopped two vehicles in Buttonwillow for traffic violations and found drugs in both. On December 7 at about 11 p.m. John Wayne Gates, 40, of Taft and Sarah Adams, 28, from Marbleton were booked for Transportation of narcotics for sales and related charges after a parole search revealed methamphetamine and paraphernalia. A second probe at 12:40 a.m. the next day at 2534 Wasco Way led to Orlando Gracia, 26, being arrested with over an ounce of methamphetamine, currency, paraphernalia, packaging materials, a firearm, and other items tied to drug sales.

Two Shafter Residents Involved In Vehicle Collision
Nineteen year old Jerry Sanchez of Shafter sustained major injuries after being struck from behind by a 1989 Plymouth driven by Marcos Cabezuela also of Shafter on December 8 at 12 28 a m. The incident occurred on Santa Fe Way south of 7 Stan dard Road in cloudy wet weather. Sanchez was pushing his disabled vehicle without lights when Cabezuela fled the scene. Cabezuela later surrendered to CHP and a report was sent to the District Attorney for review. Sanchez was treated at Kern Medical Center for a fractured right arm and back injuries.
