Red Star to Yellow Shell at Bakersfield Texaco site shifts
Shafter residents notice a color change at a South Shafter Avenue gas station as Texaco to Shell conversion expands in Bakersfield. Shell plans convert 40 Texaco stations nationwide by end of 2004, including one on East Lerdo Highway, with 22,000 Texaco cardholders receiving Shell cards. The move follows Texaco Chevron merger terms, part of a broader $530 million conversion effort across 75 markets, backed by marketing and conversion costs.
