Five generations of a Shafter family marked Maggie's 87th birthday on Sunday November 14 at Kern. Weigand recalled their 1920s Californias journey from North Dakota after a pickup truck fire that destroyed possessions. The event drew relatives from many towns and included reminiscences of Cousins Cafe days and a book-writing labor camp encounter. Hal Christensen noted his faith at a Christian Business Men's Committee meeting at Yee's Steak House with the Richland Junior High choir and Christmas crafts on display.
