Kern County students in grades four through twelve are invited to enter the American Legion essay contest. Rules were distributed by the county superintendent’s Division of Instructional Service led by Dr. Wayne Carter. Group I writes 200 to 300 words on Land I Love. Group II for seven and Group III for ten to twelve on The Uses and Abuses of the Fifth Amendment, 300 to 500 words. Exceptional needs participants may submit on I Love America with at least 25 words. Essays judged for core values and use Myrtle McCann as Americanism chair.
