Four leading cotton experts from the San Joaquin Valley will judge the 10th Annual Cotton Judging Contest at Fresno State College on December 2. Judges include Dr H B Cooper Les Stromberg Howard Warner and Joe Brazil. High school teams will judge cotton parts and take a 50 minute written exam starting 9:30 a.m. Co sponsors are FSC School of Agriculture and Producers Cotton Oil Company.

Two Plead Guilty To Petty Theft and Resisting Arrest

Kern County High School Speech Contest Set At Shafter
About 200 Kern County high school students will compete in a speech contest at Shafter High School on Saturday December 9. Forty local judges will rank contestants in four rounds across six categories including humorous speeches original orations and extemporaneous topics. Local seniors Jan Dargatz Janet Kroeker and others from Shafter will perform various pieces as the event marks a return after several years with community support praised by Miss Ann Ritter.

Judge Gaede Reassigned to Delano Court Through Jan 5 1968
Local Judge Harvey Gaede fills in for the Delano McFarland Justice Court due to the illness of the Delano judge. He also maintains his morning court here. In a Delano proceeding Deitha H. Smith of 421 Belmont Street was ordered to pay 261 dollars restitution to Kern County Welfare and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 60 suspended on condition of restitution after pleading guilty to failing to report income and other material facts.
